Reiki

Reiki healing is a natural therapy that gently balances life energies and brings health and well being to the recipient.

What is Reiki? ... The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". Everything is made up of energy and interconnected.

While spiritual in nature, Reiki is not a religion. An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.

Energy healing is practiced in all cultures. It is called by different names in different cultures: The Chinese know it as qi; the Japanese refer to it as ki; in India, it is prana. Reiki brings about healing on physical, mental and spiritual levels by using a hands on technique.

Lack of sleep, poor eating habits and stress are some of the reasons our energy may be low. When your body is out of balance our immune system lowers putting us at risk for sickness. Working in conjunction with the meridian energy lines and centering the 7 major chakra points in the body, the flow of energy assists in enhancing the natural healing processes of the individual. Reiki is a gentle form of natural healing that promotes peace and relaxation helping your body's natural ability to heal and get back in balance.

Reiki is no longer considered a "alternative" therapy but a complimentary therapy being used in hospitals around the world. I recently completed my hospice training through Grace Healthcare who advertised for Reiki practitioners to work with hospice patients and their families. It is no longer uncommon to find Reiki being used in hospitals and assisted living facilities.
